Do I need three-phase power to install a home EV charger?

No. Standard single-phase supply handles up to about 7.4kW, which adds roughly 40km of range per hour of charging — plenty for most Australian homes. Three-phase (up to 22kW) is worth it if you drive very long distances daily, share the charger between two EVs, or already have three-phase supply.

Is the installation compliant with Australian standards?

Yes. Every installer we book must be a licensed electrician and installs to AS/NZS 3000 (the Australian Wiring Rules). You receive a Certificate of Electrical Safety (or state equivalent) once the job passes testing.

What if my switchboard needs upgrading?

Some older switchboards need a dedicated RCBO, a spare pole, or a full board upgrade before a charger can be installed safely. Your installer will check this during the site assessment and confirm any additional cost with you before starting.

Most major single-phase and three-phase home chargers — Tesla Wall Connector, Fronius Wattpilot, Zappi, Ocular, EO, Wallbox and more. If you haven't chosen a charger yet, pick 'need advice' at booking and your installer will recommend one for your setup.

Rebate availability changes year to year and depends on your state. Some states offer subsidies for EV charger hardware or installation when paired with solar. Your installer will let you know what's currently available in your area.

You can book any available time from 7 days out. The 7-day lead time gives your installer time to confirm the site, order any parts needed, and schedule the visit properly.

Can I install the charger outdoors?

Yes. Most modern EV chargers (including the Tesla Wall Connector) are IP-rated for outdoor use. Your installer will confirm the mounting location handles weather exposure and cable routing before installation.
